It’s really sega’s fault for not figuring out a way to make money out of it’s intellectual property on the PC.ĮDIT: I’m all for the rights of publishers/developers to profit from the work they produce, but in this case if Sega shuts down this thing without making their own DLC version for PC gamer fans who clearly are interested and would pay for it, well that would be a dick move.
Even that doesn’t exactly fit, since the modders are clearly acknowledging that the art assets are the property of Sega.
The word you’re looking for is probably plagiarism, lifting content from someone else’s work (in this case art assets) and using it in something else. Not sure about that: they’re not distributing a commercial PC game, and there’s no legal way to purchase Sonic Unleashed on the PC so…
